Lies Kortenhorst (1953)
‘It’s not like this, it’s different. Do I see what I see? I actually can not stop wondering this while watching. Everything starts with observing, and as some sort of cycle, the wonder, the research, thinking and doing follows. While painting I prolong the act of observing, so to speak. It becomes a second view.’ (from: Dossier Lies Kortenhorst, published in 2018)
Lies makes drawings, paintings and collages. In her work she tells the story of the urban landscapes which she sees while traveling. It refers to architecture, spaciousness and often social issues. She examines what affected her and engages herself to urban life in her own specific way.
